“WOMEN IN FUSION” DINNER AT THE 30TH IEEE SYMPOSIUM ON FUSION ENGINEERING (SOFE2023)

10th July, 2023

The Randolph Hotel, Oxford

The informal event will start with welcome drinks and canapés, followed by bowl food in the convivial surroundings of Lancaster Room, with its view of the Ashmolean Museum, in the historic Randolph Hotel. All participants will have an opportunity for networking with panellists and other guests.

The panel will comprise:

  • Kathryn McCarthy PhD, Director, US ITER Project Oak Ridge National Laboratories
  • Melanie Windridge PhD, Founder and CEO, Fusion Energy Insights
  • Prof Sir Ian Chapman, CEO, UKAEA
  • Lyanne McLean MBE, Director of Operations, Tokamak Energy
  • Sehila Gonzalez PhD, Global Director, Fusion Energy Clean Air Taskforce
We are also delighted to share that Gabriela Hearst has agreed to join this event. Gabriela, the Creative Director of Chloe, was born on a ranch in Uruguay and grew up with an entrenched understanding of ethical consumption. It wasn’t until October 2021 when she read an article on the feasibility of fusion that she started to do her research, and a year later she presented the Chloé SS23 women’s Spring Summer 2023 collection inspired by Fusion Energy. “Fall 2022 Ready-to-Wear Fashion Show”! In November ’22 she led a panel on fusion energy at COP27 in Egypt. Gabriela will be in conversation with Celestine Cheong, Head of External Communications at UKAEA.

Heather Lewtas, Head of Innovation at UKAEA will be hosting the panel of five other inspirational people in fusion finding out more about how they carved out their careers and how you could steer your career in the direction you want.
