The most important way to fight discrimination is to identify it with incontrovertible data, Journals such as Nuclear Fusion should be asked to publish gender statistics of main and submitting authors, as well as most cited. Conferences such as IAEA should publish gender statistics of participants, invited talks, orals. Fusion institutions, including EUROfusion, should publish gender statistics on the top managers, scientists, engineers, technical and administrative staff. I have tried to obtain all of the above in the past, sometimes succeeding. Hopefully times are changing and WiF will be able to get responses more easily.

Thank you Emilia for the great suggestions. Statistics are on the way for the next IAEA and for EUROfusion. Women are underrepresented in many institutions (below the STEM average of the country), we need to make sure young scientist get the enthusiastic and get the necessary support they need to enter this exciting field.
